Project 2 - Kitchen Remodel Day 0
I’m kicking off a new kitchen remodel in San Diego alongside my current ADU build. This kitchen hasn’t been touched since the 70’s, so the goal is to modernize it while keeping an eye on value.
The biggest change? We’re opening up a structural wall between the kitchen and living room. That means bringing in engineering, reworking mechanicals, and relocating the fridge, oven, and cooktop to create a more functional layout.
This is a value-driven remodel for a busy family who’d rather enjoy everything San Diego has to offer than sink money into an over-designed, overpriced kitchen. To offset the cost of structural changes, we’re going with a smart mix of IKEA cabinets, laminate vinyl plank flooring, and engineered countertops. I’ve used these finishes for years, and they hit the sweet spot: they look sharp, function well, and can handle the wear-and-tear of an active household.
I’ll be posting updates throughout the remodel so you can see exactly what the process looks like when working with me.
Follow along as we kick off a San Diego kitchen remodel, opening walls, relocating appliances, and creating a modern, value-driven space for a busy family.
