IKEA Kitchen Install

Painting is done (Sherwin-Williams Pure White), flooring is in (yes, under the cabinets on this one — and it works with this product), and we’re ready to set the kitchen. I’m installing IKEA Sektion cabinets with the matte-white Axstad fronts, which give a clean, classic look without trying too hard.

If you’re working with IKEA cabinets, do a real-world layout first. Blue tape, tape measure, and every cabinet dimension laid out on the floor and walls. Make sure you understand where your utility access panels are before you install a single box.

I also build a 2×4 platform base instead of using the stock plastic legs. The legs will work, but the wood base stays rock solid and makes leveling a whole lot easier.

The nice thing about the IKEA system is the functionality. Their pull-outs, organizers, and soft-close hardware are surprisingly good, especially for ADUs and small kitchens. Worth digging through all the options before you finalize your layout.
